Diagnostic testing is the gateway to care and treatment of priority diseases, but it has been undervalued in global health. Recent advances in diagnostic development, including diagnostics for use at or near the point of patient care, have the potential to greatly improve:

  • access to diagnostics
  • the quality of patient care
  • disease surveillance.

But there is a need to accelerate delivery of accessible, quality-assured in vitro diagnostics (IVDs) to improve global health.

The IDC website contains resources on topics that are of importance for facilitating the bench to bedside pathway of new IVDs. These include resources on:

The focus of the website is on diagnostics for HIV/AIDS, including key co-infections (e.g. TB and Hepatitis C), as well as diagnostics for Maternal and Child Health.
